AquaC Protein Skimmers
Aqua C manufactures several different styles of protein skimmers - the EV Series are powerful undertank skimmers that require a sump. The Remora Series are slim and efficient Hang-on-Tank skimmers, and the Urchin Series are compact sump skimmers for mini-reefs with limited space.

All AquaC skimmers feature the same patented spray injection system. This is one of the most innovative methods of air injection yet, and it makes for some very efficient foam fractionation.
Tunze Protein Skimmers
The DOC skimmer removes protein compounds effectively from the water circuit, better than a bio-mechanical filter, which means that by removing proteins “before” bacterial decomposition, crystal-clear water is retained and a rise in nitrate and phosphate is reduced.

In practice it can be observed that the absorbed matter is torn off the air bubbles again by skimmers with a tall reaction chamber. For this reason, all TUNZE® DOC skimmers have very short reactors with a high air throughput .

Tunze Doc Nano Protein Skimmer 9002 AquaC Remora Hang-on Skimmer
Recommended for aquariums from 40 to 200 litres (10 to 52 US gal.) of salt water.

The “Nano” model series has been designed for the use in reef biotopes up to 200 litres (52 US gal.), and is gentle to the plankton in operation. The DOC Skimmer 9002 removes up to 80 per cent of organic waste matter, such as protein and cellulose, from the aquarium water. Very little space is required in the aquarium, and its handling is very easy.
The Remora is an efficient hang-on skimmer that does not require the use of a sump. Simply hang it on the back of your tank, plug it in, and you're ready to go. Just like our larger EV models, the Remora is driven by a powerful spray injector and a Maxi Jet 1200 pump.

AquaC Remora Pro Hang-on Skimmer AquaC EV-120 Protein Skimmer
The Remora Pro is a larger, more powerful version of our popular Remora. This skimmer is capable of handling a 120 gallon fully stocked reef tank. The Pro is available with two different pump options - the Rio 1400 or the Mag Drive 3. If you have a larger tank without a sump, the Remora Pro might be the skimmer for you. The AquaC EV-120 Protein Skimmer is only 18" tall, providing super foam fractionation in a compact package! This protein skimmer should easily fit in your sump and with its raised gate valve (10") you won't need to worry about inconsistent performance due to sump fluctuations. No other protein skimmer on the market can generate this much foam and performance from such a small pump.

Tunze Doc Protein Skimmer 9010 AquaC EV-180 Protein Skimmer
The DOC skimmers have been developed for an effective and modern protein skimming process in marine biotopes from 200 to 2,000 litres (52 to 528 US gal.). They stand out for their compact dimensions at the same time ensuring a high foam cup capacity, and producing a very high throughput on account of their air capacity of 650 or 1,300 l/h (171 or 343 US gal./h), depending on the model. They can be placed directly in the aquarium or in cabinet systems with a variable water level. The AquaC EV-180 Protein Skimmer is a true performer - due to the larger mixing box and baffling design. We encourage the most demanding retail stores, livestock dealers, and advanced hobbyists to try the new EV protein skimmers, you will not be disappointed.
Quality Protein Skimmers
A protein skimmer by Aqua C and other top companies is one of the biggest advancements in technology today for the successful aquarium hobbyist, especially the reefer who has “Built an Ocean.”™
A skimmer or foam fractionator is a device used in the aquarium to remove organic compounds from the water before they break down into nitrogenous waste. Skimming is the only form of filtration that physically removes organic compounds before they begin to decompose, lightening the load on the biological filter and improving the water's redox potential.
Skimming removes certain organic compounds, including proteins and amino acids, by using the polarity of the protein itself. Waste has a negative and positive charge, and due to their intrinsic charge, water-borne proteins are attracted to the air / water interface. Skimmers work by injecting numerous tiny bubbles into the water column with high speed pumps and sucking air through a venturi tube. The small bubbles present an enormous air / water interface for the protein molecules to cling to. The longer the bubble resides in the water, the more molecules it is able to attract. The action of a skimmer is often compared to the action of waves producing sea foam. In the ocean or a lake, when you disturb the bottom sand or mud floor, you can see gas bubbles float to the surface. Air bubbles are the same way the natural bodies of water release nitrogenous waste!
